An Award-Winning Year of Community and Connection: A Look Back at 2025 in Pecan Square
What a year it has been at Pecan Square by Hillwood! As we reflect on 2025, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for the vibrant life we’re building together. Now six years into our journey, the warm, small-town spirit envisioned from the very beginning has flourished, creating a new home community where neighbors become friends and every day brings an opportunity for connection.
This past year was truly one for the books, marked by national recognition and countless shared memories. Pecan Square received two prestigious Gold awards at The Nationals, presented by the National Association of Homebuilders, for Master-Planned Community of the Year and Lifestyle Program of the Year! These awards are a testament to the hard work of our dedicated Lifestyle Manager, Razeena Sanchez, and our incredible residents, who bring this community to life with their energy, generosity, and spirit of togetherness.
From poolside fun and festive gatherings to heartfelt moments of giving back, let’s take a look back at the unforgettable year that was 2025.
The Award-Winning Lifestyle in Action
With over 300 events and organized activities taking place in 2025, there was never a dull moment at Pecan Square. Our calendar was packed with experiences designed to bring people together, spark new friendships, and create lasting memories for residents of all ages.
The year was full of unique, engaging events that showcased the creativity of our community. Residents stepped back in time for a thrilling “Deadly Vintage” Murder Mystery Night, solving a shocking crime between sips of wine and plenty of laughter. At our adult Halloween party, the “Monster Mash,” spooky tunes, and a walking magician set the scene for a frightfully fun evening. For the Swifties among us, the “Eras Experience” was a dream come true, complete with tinsel hair, bracelet-making, and a dance-off that had kids and their mamas shining.
As one resident shared, “Living in Pecan Square is truly special. There’s always something fun happening—from creative themed events to unforgettable community traditions—and no two weeks ever feel the same!”
From the annual Snowball Showdown and Gingerbread House Contest to live music on the Lawn and dueling pianos concerts, Pecan Square’s lifestyle program continues to be the heartbeat of the community, fostering a culture of fun and connection.
Making a Splash with New Amenities
The Texas sun was no match for our residents this year, thanks to the fantastic addition of our third resort-style pool! The new Blue Horizon Pool opened the door for even more summertime fun, with poolside pops, bubble-wand parties, and epic water balloon battles. Our youngest residents loved the shallow play areas, while adults took advantage of the new colored tiles at the bottom, which provide easy pacing for lap swimming.
“The pool is always so clean, and the space feels so safe for my babies,” said resident Hannah Stoermer. “And the kids’ water feature is a hit every time!”
Beyond the pools, our parks, ponds, and open fields remained favorite spots for outdoor adventure. Residents enjoyed morning walks, sunset picnics on the Lawn, and the annual Jordan Dwyer Fishing Tournament, a friendly competition for anglers of all ages. These beautiful spaces provide endless opportunities to connect with nature and each other.
A Community with a Heart
The spirit of Pecan Square shines brightest when we come together for a greater purpose. This year, we were deeply honored to partner once again with Building Homes for Heroes to provide a mortgage-free home to Sergeant First Class Michael Smith and his family. The Key Ceremony was a breathtaking testament to our community’s gratitude, featuring a moving parade of residents, first responders, and the Patriot Guard, culminating in the spectacular arrival of the Patriot Parachute Team. Welcoming the Smith family—the third veteran household to receive a specially built home here—was a profound reminder of what community is all about.
“Being a small part of making this home a reality for Sergeant Smith and getting to know him and his family has been a blessing to me,” said Project Manager Kim Comiskey. “I am thankful I work for a company that values our veterans and is committed to supporting them.”
Our residents’ generosity also extended to our neighbors across North Texas. Through donation drives and creative fundraising events like the “Basket Case Race” adult Easter egg hunt, the Pecan Square community raised $4,224 for the Tarrant Area Food Bank, providing an incredible 21,120 meals to families in need. This powerful partnership demonstrates that Pecan Square isn’t just a neighborhood—it’s a community that truly cares.
Revving Up New Traditions
October brought the debut of a roaring new event: the Pecan Square Car Meet! The Town Square transformed into a spectacular showroom featuring classics, modern muscle cars, exotics, and more. Residents enjoyed food trucks, live music, and local vendors in a fun-filled day for the whole family. The event was such a smash hit that we’re thrilled to announce it will become an annual Pecan Square tradition.
Resident Dakota Swan shared, “The Car Meet was such a standout this year! My sons were thrilled to have something geared more toward boys, and it created such a special dad-and-son bonding moment. We loved seeing the community offer something new and unique.”
Looking Ahead: The Future is Bright at Pecan Square by Hillwood
The incredible momentum of 2025 is carrying us into an even more exciting future. Our development team has been hard at work, completing the fantastic Starling sports park and beginning construction on the remaining residential phases, with new homesites set to be completed in April 2026. This means more opportunities for homebuyers to join our amazing community.
The growth extends beyond new homes. The first commercial buildings in Pecan Plaza broke ground in October and are projected to open in late 2026, bringing new retail and services right to our doorstep. We also look forward to adding two new parks within the upcoming residential phases.
Education in our community is also expanding, as we eagerly await the August 2026 opening of Barksdale Middle School right here in Pecan Square, a welcome addition for families in the acclaimed Northwest ISD.
It’s been an amazing year of connection, celebration, and growth. A community is only as special as its residents, and we believe Pecan Square has the very best.
