The Pecan Square Community: A Year of Building Bonds
Nestled in Northlake, TX, Pecan Square isn’t just another place to live. And it’s more than a community inspired by small-town values. It’s a community-wide experience where the threads of tradition, togetherness, and shared experiences are woven together in equal measure to create a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
In 2023, this tapestry grew richer thanks to our award-winning lifestyle program. Led by our Lifestyle Manager, Razeena Sanchez, our community gathered to create memories, extend a helping hand, and celebrate every moment of life together in Pecan Square. Here are a few highlights from the past year…
New Connections, Timeless Memories
Welcoming newcomers with open arms is what we do best at Pecan Square. This year, our community grew not just in numbers, but in warmth and camaraderie. Events like Hearts & Smarts Trivia, the Puh-Kahn Festival, the Father’s Day Campout, the Back-to-School Bash, jovial Friendsgiving, and the Cookie Exchange Party were more than just events, but milestones in forging lifelong friendships.
A Year of Discovery and Delight
Throughout 2023, Pecan Square was a hub of learning and leisure. From the artistic exploration in the Candle Making and Paint Your Pet workshops to the astronomical adventure of the Star Party, culinary festivities at the Super Bowl Pre Party & Chili Cookoff or the athletic instruction at the Basketball Camp, we came together to learn and grow this year. Sometimes that even meant ‘stretching ourselves’ a little bit, like we did at Goat Yoga!
Ground-Breaking Beginnings
A New School
In August, our on-site Johnie R. Daniel Elementary School opened to the delight of Pecan Square families and students who have had only great feedback about their teachers, classmates, and the facility! This is the first of three planned Northwest ISD schools that will be in Pecan Square.

A beautiful partnership has already been formed between the community and the school and the two put on several joint events this year with great success.
Drone Delivery Service
This year, through a partnership with Hillwood Communities, a select number of Pecan Square residents have been given access to Manna’s Drone Delivery service. Residents can order select items from Harvest’s Farmhouse Coffee & Treasures or Touring Chocolatier and receive delivery to their front yard via these remotely operated drones! The goal is for all Pecan Square residents to receive access to the service in 2024.
Celebrating Every Season, For Every Reason
Each season brought its reason to celebrate. Residents loved every event from the Spring Eggstravaganza to the Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting. From the festive cheer of the July 4th Parade and the Fall Festival, to the spooky delights of the Monster Mash Adult Party and Trunk or Treat with the Johnie Daniel Elementary PTA, we embraced every celebration with open hearts and smiles, all year ‘round.
A Commitment to Community and Compassion
Our dedication to the community shone brightly in 2023. The Northlake Neighbors Race and the Basket Case Race Adult Egg Hunt were huge successes, with proceeds going to benefit our new philanthropy partner, the Tarrant Area Food Bank. This year these events, and others, raised enough to supply 58,000 meals to those in need in our area, a testament to our collective spirit of communal giving. We believe in lifting each other up, and that belief was transformed into action through additional events like the Pooch Plunge, which supported the needs of the local community.
An Ode to Our Heroes
Taking a moment to appreciate the everyday heroes among us was a recurring theme this year. National Night Out, Tornado Awareness sessions, CPR Class, and partnerships with local heroes like the Northlake Police Department and Denton County Emergency Service District #1 offered more than just educational opportunities. They were celebrations of the bravery and dedication of our local heroes, reminding us of the strength and safety that can be found in our collective unity.
Endless Fun Under the Texas Sun
No matter the weather, we know how to have fun at Pecan Square, and 2023 proves it! The year brought a seemingly nonstop parade of joy and laughter. Highlights included vibrant events like the Texas-Sized Snowball Fight, our color war, a shaving cream and water balloon fight, Splash and Dash, and our inaugural fishing tournament. Rain or shine, every chance to gather was a warm reminder of our amazing neighbors.

Pecan Square’s award-winning lifestyle program is a beacon of community engagement and joy. Guided by our Lifestyle Manager, the program is the pulse of our community, bringing residents together through a myriad of regular community groups, events, and activities. It’s no surprise that, beyond the prestigious external recognition, our community is warmly loved by the people it matters the most to: its residents.
